This week’s (April 19th edition) New Yorker magazine published an in-depth profile of my friend and colleague, George Steinmetz. The magazine sent staff reporter Lauren Collins to Algeria to travel with him for ten days last December as George was trying to finish up his twelve year project to photograph all of the world’s extreme deserts. There is also a short multimedia piece about George’s Algeria trip that is viewable on the New Yorker website: New Yorker Online This may be more of George than you ever wanted to know, but it’s quite an accurate portrait, with great pictures, bad table manners and everything in between.
