A new NPR Picture Show discusses the work of Lianne Milton, a very talented and motivated photographer on the West Coast who I mentored years ago. She continues to pursue personal projects and succeeds in exploring new ways to disseminate her work. I regard her as an inspiration to all/young photographers; showing the importance of producing new work, pursuing your dreams and not giving up. Her recent work in the Indonesian city of Banda Aceh, five years after it was destroyed by a tragic tsunami, uses crisp, full colors to illustrate both the fragility and resilience of life. This is certainly a necessary statement to make in such a tumultuous political climate. Please visit NPR’s site enjoy her strong work.
