I had the rare opportunity to lead a group of 10 young photographers on a photographic mission in Russia last month. With five former photo students from the International Center of Photography in New York, and 5 photo students from the Rodchenko Moscow School of Photography, we set out to photograph at orphanages for disabled children near Moscow. The project was organized for the charities Happy Families and Life in Motion, whose purpose is to promote awareness about disabled orphans in Russia as well as the need for greater accessibility of public spaces for the disabled.
