The Rockaway Rescue Alliance Shore Soup Project is a group that formed after Hurricane Sandy indiscriminately tore through the area, leaving many with destroyed homes, no power, and little access to resources. The Shore Soup Project made it their mission to increase the access to healthy food in the Rockaway community. Volunteers prepared soups from farm fresh produce that was donated to the cause, allowing for the delivery of fresh healthy food to the doors of victims of the storm. This tradition of providing healthy solutions for those in need through environmentally efficient methods will continue in the operation of SHORE, a mobile Relief Restaurant.
On Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 7:00pm there will be a benefit for the Shore Soup Project at the Bowery Hotel in New York. The benefit will feature a silent auction, music by DJs, delicious food by multiple chefs, and local beer and wine. All of the funds raised from this event will go towards providing free and healthy meals to the rebuilding Rockaway community.
You can help make a difference for those affected by Hurricane Sandy. For more details see the event page on NYCharities.org. You can purchase tickets for the event, or if you cannot attend, but would still like to contribute, make a donation.
