Venetia Deardon joined the VII Photo family in 2010 and will be showing work from her latest book Eight Days at VII Gallery in Dumbo, NY. Venetia’s recent book documents a road trip that culminates in Burning Man, a large festival – gathering, a topic that she has explored in depth in another body of work, Glastonbury: Another Stage. In Venetia’s words “All humans were nomads once, and even in today’s over-civilised, aspirational world we still feel a residual need to move with our own chosen communities. Tribal gatherings are as ancient a part of life, recently resurgent. I am curious about the social migrations to these larger festivities, and the pace at which they continue to gather notoriety.” The project highlights the strength of Venetia’s work; a witchy use of mystical light stewed with a dash of primal humanity.
