“The Aftermath Project is a non-profit organization committed to telling the other half of the story of conflict — the story of what it takes for individuals to learn to live again, to rebuild destroyed lives and homes, to restore civil societies, to address the lingering wounds of war while struggling to create new avenues for peace.” Working with universities, photography institutions, and non-profits, The Aftermath Project seeks to expand public understanding of the true cost of war.
The project holds a grant competition each year that culminates in an annual publication, “War is Only Half the Story.” The sixth edition of the book is scheduled to be published in January 2014, featuring the work of 2012 grant winner, Andrew Lichtenstein and the 2012 finalists.
As the Aftermath Project’s most important outreach over 500 pro bono copies of “War is Only Half the Story” are distributed to US senators, journalism and peace-building programs, museum curators, industry professionals, and teachers in efforts to promote awareness of these important issues across all platforms.
Pre-order your copy of “War is Only Half the Story, Vol. 6” for $30 on Kickstarter and help support the publication of the 6th edition of this important book. Learn more about this project at: http://www.theaftermathproject.org
